Elizabeth Butler, a partner at Pierce Atwood LLP, serves as the head of the Catalyst Program, designed to enable emerging companies to access legal services essential for success. Elizabeth has served as general counsel to a number of emerging and technology companies, as well as to non-profit organizations that are key drivers in the technology transfer space, including the Maine Technology Institute and the Gulf of Maine Research Institute. In her domestic law practice, Elizabeth focuses on assisting businesses with start-up and expansion projects by providing the full range of legal services needed by growing companies, including advice on the most efficient use of Maine’s economic development incentives, streamlining the process for environmental, land use, and other governmental approvals, and related tax planning, employment, and intellectual property issues. Her international law practice includes projects for the World Bank and the United States Agency for International Development in the energy and water infrastructure sectors. Ms. Butler previously served as Chief Counsel to State of Maine Governor Angus S. King and as Assistant Attorney General for the State of Maine.
