

Joe Michaud, principal, Local Interactive Strategies LLC
Joe has lived his career in media, from college (a double B.A. in journalism and video/film at the University of Maine), through two magazine startups, to several years as an editor at the Portland Press Herald, leading to his helping found MaineToday.com in 1995 and becoming its president. MaineToday.com became recognized as one of the most innovative and financially successful digital operations among regional newspapers in the U.S., and Joe was a finalist for the Newspaper Association of America's 2001 Digital Pioneer award.
In 2008, Joe started Local Interactive Strategies LLC, a consultancy focused on helping businesses and media succeed in an digital world, particularly in the changing world of advertising. He also developed Concert Rat, using Maine Technology Institute competitive seed funding, matched by in-kind support and angel investment, and launched in 2010. Concert Rat makes it easy for live-music fans to capture their collective photos and experiences about a specific show, while also posting to their Facebook wall. Users can post through ConcertRat.com, or through Concert Rat's wicked slick iPhone app.
