Company Description:  Scott Moffat CEO, a practicing Veterinarian and Ben Brickett CTO, an Electrical Engineer, founded VFG Energy Systems in 2002 to conduct research and development for the commercialization of various product ideas in the environmental and renewable energy fields. In the past the company has focused on research and product development centered on mitigating risks of entanglement of marine mammals in fixed fishing gear. Three products have been developed and tested supported by over $500,000 of funding from various grant sources. Full production runs are pending finalization of federal agency administrative rules and/or legislation. Currently the company’s primary activity is the commercialization of wind and water turbines based on the Variable Force Generator (VFG). The novel patent pending robust design of the axial displacement, direct-drive generator system enables the VFG wind turbine to maximize energy production over a wider range of wind speeds than conventional turbines, especially at low wind speeds. VFGES is committed to grow real jobs and to make world class wind turbines in the state of Maine.
